- I joined this group for many reasons, including networking and participating in discussions in regards to developments in social, interactive, giftable, visual and literary media, particularly having to do with girls and their futures. I'm the author and illustrator of many books and products mainly designed right now for girls of all ages, including the bestselling book girls rule..a very special book created especially for girls (published by SPS Studios) which was included in the National Organization of Poetry's top ten list of children's poetry in an article in the Chicago Tribune called "Children's Poetry: more than just kids stuff." My collection of products including notebooks and phonebooks and calendars and other gift products, called Solo Para Chicas, is published by V&R Editorias in Argentina and is based on my cartoon narrator who, in English, is named Penelope J. Miller. The Portuguese V&R series is called So Para Garotas. I also design ecards for americangreetings.com and bluemountainarts.com. My greeting card line called "The Ashley Rice Collection" plus many other book accessories including wallet cards, magnetic notepads, picture frames, etc are also published by SPS Studios along with my other books, magnets, and bookmarks in an SPS Studios Spanish language edition. Some of y books have also been translated into Japanese (Choubunsha), Finnish (Katheros Oy) and Chinese (the last by a company called topenglish, in conjunction with New Star Audio and Video). That one is sold as a print/audio book in China to help teach girls there English. I was in a short short about movies by Errol Morris which aired on the Academy Awards a few years back and also wrote a PBS commercial for The American Indian Heritage Center of Dallas, where I worked helping people to get CDIB cards, and am interested in international and indie film. This summer while doing the usual writing and illustrating stuff I also ran The American Girls Book Club at Barnes and Noble and taught a girl power art class at Girls Inc. of Dallas at the Oak Cliff Center which was tons of fun. I was interviewed for an article for Bliss MagazineUK and was previously featured in the Dallas Morning News in 2004 in an article called "Dallas Writer Shares Positive Story." It describes some of my work and is told by my cartoon narrator. Soon she will also narrate my interactive website for girls everywhere. You suck at photoshop! (funny, entertaining, instructional videos to help with those things u need to learn or forgot how 2 do!)
Hey!
Here's a pretty funny example from "you suck at photoshop." These free instructional videos are on youtube. They help you learn new stuff on the adobe Photoshop program or even refresh your skills on stuff you temporarily forgot how to do. Just type in your question in the search box on youtube along with "you suck at photoshop" and u will probably find an answer to your dilemma. And you'll get a laugh or 2, too : D
